TAIPEI, TAIWAN – Although February should be a brighter month for makers of handset PCBs, they should prepare for first-quarter losses, according to DigiTimes.

A 5% to 10% sales growth is expected for the month, but utilization rates will only average 50% for the first quarter. Sales are forecasted to drop over 50%, reports DigiTimes.

Orders have slightly increased for Compeq Manufacturing, Unitech Printed Circuit Board and Unimicron Technology, but shipments are still expected to be lower than 2008 figures. Compeq should see an 11% decline in shipments to 160 million units, according to DigiTimes.
