ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Jabil Circuit announced that it plans to layoff 150 workers in December, due to the troubled global economy and a decline in customer orders. The company has not identified which product lines will be affected; 100 manufacturing and 50 office jobs are on the block.

In September, the company eliminated 120 jobs. The announcement came one day before Jabil unveiled plans to build not only its world headquarters, but also an additional manufacturing plant, in St. Petersburg. The state of Florida is providing $34.4 million in economic incentives, and Jabil is reporting 858 additional jobs will be created from the expansion. The majority of jobs will be in the company’s defense/aerospace sector, with the remainder in corporate administration.
