TOKYO - Dai Nippon Printing Company has announced a joint venture (JV) with Unimicron Technology of Taiwan to set up a PCB manufacturing company in Hong Kong.

The new company, called UD Alliance Technology, will cost $5.14 million. Dain Nippon will contribute 33.5% and Unimicron will contribute 66.5% of the cost.

The new company will make PCBs for mobile phones, using Dai Nippon’s multilayer circuit board technology.

Dai Nippon is reportedly seeking to expand its PCB business, while Unimicron will use the JV to attempt to reduce its production costs.
