JIANGYIN, CHINA - Industry sources report that
HannStar Board
expects shipments of notebook PCBs to grow 30% to 54 million units in
2008, keeping a 40-42% market share to remain the number one supplier
for notebook PCBs, according to the company.
The company disclosed that it shipped 40 million notebook PCBs in 2007,
a 40% share of the market. The company's 2008 projected growth is
higher than previous forcasts of 24.73% for the year, the sources
indicated.
The company is applying with authorities in China to increase plant capacity to
5.25 million units, up from the current 4.05 million per month for
conventional notebook PCBs, and to 100,000 units from the present
50,000 units for the HDI segment, the sources said.
HannStar expects seasonality to keep first-quarter notebook PCB
shipments down 10-15% sequentially to 10-11 million units, sources
reported. Fourth-quarter consolidated sales totaled $170 million, up
5.2% sequentially.
