NEW TAIPEI CITY – Unitech Printed Circuit Board reported October revenues down 26.6% year-over-year and up 3.4% sequentially to NT$1.47 billion (US$51.5 million). January to October revenues were 40.2% year-over year to NT$11.2 billion, according to reports.

Third quarter net losses were NT$417 million. Operating losses in the second quarter were NT$675 million as a result of losing rigid-flex board orders for AirPods 2. The firm increased capacity utilization in the third quarter after regaining orders for the TWS devices and maintaining stable HDI board shipments for notebooks and tablets.

Unitech isn’t expected to see profitability for full-year 2020 in part because shipments of automotive PCBs will not improve with a resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic in the US and Europe.

Order visibility for AirPods 2 is clear through the first half of 2021, providing revenue for Unitech. Revenue growth in 2021 is expected to come from shipments of any-layer HDI boards for MacBook mainboards and high-frequency radar boards for automobiles.

Unitech said it will gradually expand its production capacity for high-end HDI boards at its new Jiangsu plant next year.

The company expects fourth quarter shipments and revenues to improve.
