SAN JOSE – Cadence reported third-quarter net income of $127 million, a big jump from last year when the EDA software vendor lost $14 million.
For the September period, the company said revenue was $238 million, up 10.2% year-over-year.
The firm’s third-quarter net income included a $148 million income tax benefit related to the settlement of an IRS examination of Cadence's federal income tax returns for 2000 through 2002.
For the fourth quarter, the company expects total revenue in the range of $230 million to $240 million.
Cadence expects total 2010 revenue in the range of $917 million to $927 million.
