WASHINGTON -- An International Trade Commission panel tasked with resolving a two-year patent battle pitting Rambus against Nvidia and several other big-name tech companies will delay ruling for two more months.

The suit alleges Nvidia has failed to pay royalties on three Rambus patents involving memory, which the latter company licenses. Other companies named in the lawsuit include H-P, Asustek, and a dozen other electronics firms.

The ITC panel postponed its ruling until July 26, saying it wanted to hear the parties' comments on how a separate settlement between Samsung and Rambus might affect the suit.

In January, Samsung agreed to pay a $700 million in cash and purchase a large stake of Rambus stock over the next five years.

Delays in the case can affect the design and procurement of graphics cards and other electronics end-products that rely on memory devices that might infringe the Rambus patents.
