TAIPEI -- The chairman of Hon Hai (Foxconn) is aiming for sales to rise 30% this year, but acknowledges the goal will be difficult.
Chairman Terry Gou said during the company's annual general meeting he has given each business department a target of 30% sales growth, Reuters reported.
However, the company is giving conflicting indications on whether it plans to increase capacity. Earlier this week, Foxconn indicated it would invest $500 million this year in equipment upgrades but would not expand capacity. A couple days later, the head of its Czech unit said capacity expansion is on the table.
Over time, Foxconn plans to move into design and services such as distribution, Guo said, filling the role of a traditional ODM. "Many clients are asking us to provide services from design, manufacturing to distribution," Gou said, according to Reuters
