Elmatica today announced the hire of Anders Evensen as Compliance Manager, as a direct result of new compliance demands from USDoD as CMMC* and a global focus on export control laws and cybersecurity.

"There is simultaneously an increasing demand for documentation regarding how one secures the supply chain for all industries, and in particular the defence, space and telecommunication industry", says CEO Bech.

“Evensen employment is another example of ELMATICA’s strategy and on-going commitment to the development of our compliance program, software and methodology across all our industries. Evensen expertise will further strengthen ELMATICA’s ability to maintain and develop a world-class compliance program with a particular focus on ethics, culture, and transparency which is critical to our customers supply chains, particularly in the defence sector, but also other industries' “, says CEO Didrik Bech.

Securing the supply chain

The Compliance Manager will report directly to the Officer Group and Board of Directors and further improve and implement an effective and vigilant compliance program. While also advising senior management on core compliance aspects, risk and governance matters. According to Bech, Elmatica will continue to drive a culture of integrity, with focus on securing the customers' supply chains and upholding the highest ethical standards.

“When procuring components, printed circuits or materials to the defence Industry, there is no such thing as assuming or relying on interpretations of rules and regulations. No option for believing or judging whether you or your supplier follow regulations. It is the sole responsibility for every actor in every supply chain to ensure that they are compliant and they must conduct a compliance risk assessment to determine what regulations they are subject to. Compliance management in the defence industry is the defining factor between financial success and costly mistakes'', says CEO Didrik Bech.

Turning changes into possibilities

Evensen is looking forward to meeting the team and contributing with his experience to further develop Elmaticas Compliance program.

“Elmatica targets markets, like the defence industry, facing invigorating changes in their respective compliance regulations. I am looking forward to joining the team and contributing in turning changes into possibilities, and to continue the great effort already started in the company, by adapting to challenges in an efficient way, providing transparency and advice on crucial regulations”, says Evensen.

A new post COVID normality and regulatory demands

As the industry moves into a new post COVID normality, it is expected to see a further increase in regulatory demands and a focus on having compliant partners in all steps of your supply chain.

"A valid example is how the five levels of CMMC will affect the entire global supply chain for defence. Evensen knowledge and interest towards the field of compliance, as well as financial services and experience as a bar attorney, will be important as we navigate defence, space, automotive policies and other regulations”, says Bech.

Annual increase in defence industry

The amount of cyber attacks are steadily increasing with more and more severe consequences, and defence regulations are now in the forefront for pushing the requirement for cyber hygiene. This has led to an increased focus in the defence industry to learn more about Cyber Security and Export Control. “However, there is still room for improvement in regards to flow down of requirements from primes to subcontractors in the supply chain, according to Bech.

Elmatica can document over the last years an annual increase of 20-30% in the defense industry. This increase is predominantly due to four aspects

(I) Development of new advanced products and capabilities all requiring PCBs

(II) Increased demand for new and existing products

(III) New compliance regulations and Cyber Security requirements (CMMC)

(IV) Most importantly a general understanding that each actor in the supply chain has an irrevocable responsibility to know their countries export compliance regulations and licenses.

Elmatica has over several decades specialized in securing the supply chain for the defense, space and telecommunication industry. Frequently holding customer, supplier and industry seminars sharing knowledge regarding export compliance.

“We recognize a strong increase in demand for these seminars and our knowledge regarding how to secure your supply chain. As these megatrends merge combined with new export compliance demands and cyber security requirements we secure our internal knowledge by being the first, or one of the first PCB brokers or suppliers in the world, having a full time dedicated Compliance Manager handling export compliance”, says Bech.

We need to work together

As a substantial and experienced partner to the defence industry, Elmatica recognizes that there is a lack of knowledge or understanding of the fact that each company is responsible for their export compliance, irrespectively of what their customer informs or believes.

“We need to work together to improve our methodology to ensure that we are aware of all demands and requirements, before anybody shares any Controlled Unclassified Data (CUI) in a supply chain. If your partner, customer or supplier can not present an export compliance program, you should take extra precautions. In a world where digitalization is a must and threat to your data, one needs to address the consequence regulatory compliance has on your business and products”, says Bech.

SAN DIEGO, July 22, 2021: Avishtech, a leading provider of innovative EDA stack-up and 2D field solver solutions, has joined Altium’s Nexar partner ecosystem. Avishtech joins a growing list of Nexar partner organizations, including Arduino, Arrow, Diotech, Keysight Technologies, Microchip, Samtec, and Ultra Librarian.

Nexar software partners are growing their businesses while transforming the electronics design, development, and manufacturing process from isolated toolchains and disconnected processes into a streamlined, next-generation workflow that is connected by a comprehensive data model for printed circuit boards. Nexar software partners connect mechanical CAD, CAM, CAE, PLM, and other applications that are relevant in the design and realization of electronics to the Altium 365 cloud platform.

Listen to an interview with Avishtech's founders here.

Avishtech plays an important role in the Nexar ecosystem. Avishtech’s Gauss Stack and Gauss 2D PCB toolsets provide the capability to simulate signal integrity, manufacturability, and reliability behavior.

Gauss Stack enables thermomechanical simulations that can predict reliability, warpage, and manufacturability issues like resin starvation and glass stop. Gauss 2D provides first-of-its-kind accurate loss modeling that accounts for ground plane losses and broad extraction of dielectric properties and conductor roughness parameters. Their capabilities are unique in the electronics design industry, providing a bridge between simulation and the real world, empowering greater accuracy and the Computational Prototyping of PCBs.

As Keshav Amla, Avishtech’s Founder and CEO, elaborates, “We developed our Gauss offerings by looking at the pain points in the industry and working to solve them—on the signal integrity side, we honed in on the pain point of inadequate loss modeling in the existing offerings; similarly, we saw that PCB reliability and manufacturability were not aspects one could predict, but only measure, through prototypes or, even worse, by dealing with field failures so we honed in on these as well.”

Expanding Existing Simulation Capabilities

In May 2021, Avishtech launched its Gauss Synthesis Online Simulation and Design Service. In addition to providing value-add services such as Dimensional Stability simulations and design-to-requirement services, this service enables those customers that don’t require a full-on subscription to Avishtech’s Gauss Stack and Gauss 2D PCB toolsets to take advantage of the capabilities provided within them on an as-needed, on-demand basis without having to run these simulations themselves. This serves to effectively democratize and simplify the PCB development process and enables Avishtech to support all types and sizes of customers, be they designers, OEMs, or PCB shops.

The Gauss Synthesis innovation makes Avishtech a natural fit for Nexar. “We’re interested in engaging partners who cover the entire spectrum of electronic design needs,” explains Ted Pawela, Chief Ecosystem Officer at Altium. “Our partnership with Avishtech helps us further transform the electronics design industry by bringing essential simulation tools that designers need to the Altium 365 platform.”

“The design process is a bit fragmented because each step involves different people and software tools. There’s a good amount of data that needs to be exchanged back and forth between product development teams, resulting in multiple sets of data that have to be created, instead of being able to rely on a single data set for multiple uses. Being able to push/pull data during the design process removes that friction and helps to streamline the design and development process,” Amla explains.

As a Nexar partner, Avishtech will be able to harness the power of Altium 365, the world’s only cloud platform for printed circuit board design and realization, to help automate the data exchange process between Altium Designer and their simulation tools.

“Design processes should be more straightforward. Avishtech looked for what was missing in the ecosystem and built software that models reality better than anything else on the market. Nexar does the same thing for data exchanges; it’s something that should have existed but didn’t. Both Altium and Avishtech are working towards the same goal,” Amla concludes.

Kempen, 20 July 2021 – After 13 years, coatings engineer Markus Wieler is back at Peters. As Global Business Development Manager, the 55-year-old is responsible for the OEM management, which means to coordinate and supervise the processes with all end customers who use Peters products in their finished electronics. In particular, Wieler has focused on further expanding the strongly growing Asian business. "Our business in Asia is developing well, our conformal coatings for electronics are in demand there. As to the circuit printing inks, we are in the process of intensifying relations," says the Peters manager.

From 1996 to 2009, Markus Wieler already worked for Peters in a position of responsibility. The graduate of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences started 25 years ago at Hooghe Weg 13 in Kempen where his office is still located today. Starting as an employee in the application technology department, he quickly rose to become deputy head of this department and finally sales manager.

Comeback to former workplace at Peters

The contact with Peters was re-established "rather by chance", explains Markus Wieler, who was holding the position of Business Director Europe until recently for a likewise globally active industrial company. CEO Ralf Schwartz did not hesitate for a second to bring the experienced chemist back onto the Peters command bridge.

"As an old Krefeld coatings engineer and long-time employee peppered with valuable experience, Markus Wieler will be able to make a comeback in no time to the demanding and never boring subject of coating materials for electronics" says the CEO of the world's only full-range supplier in this segment. Markus Wieler's expertise from his chemistry studies in Krefeld focused on coatings technology at the Institute for Coatings and Surface Chemistry will benefit him more than ever, he adds. Schwartz defines Wieler's area of responsibility as follows: coordinating the expansion of the good relationships with major OEM companies and driving the growth of the Peters Group in Asian markets.

Good chemistry between Wieler and Peters

Looking forward to this challenge, Markus Wieler who is living in Meerbusch confirms that he always felt very comfortable working for Peters and was now pleased to meet two thirds of his former colleagues again. What is "exciting" for the married father of two grown-up children is to experience the advanced technology and to develop it further based on Peters expertise, as well as to place it on the markets. For the passionate paraglider pilot, Peters is something like a desirable landing site.
