Calumet Electronics’ Todd Brassard receives unanimous support to serve on AIAM Board of Directors

CALUMET, Mich. (April 5, 2021) – In recognition of Calumet Electronics' concerted effort to shape the future of domestic aerospace manufacturing, the Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan (AIAM) unanimously approved Calumet's VP/COO Todd Brassard to serve on the organization's Board of Directors. Brassard's appointment strengthens AIAM's vision to make Michigan the #1 ranked aerospace ecosystem in the country.

"The aerospace industry is Michigan's sleeping giant and one of the brightest stars in our state's economic future,” said Brassard. “AIAM is doing a lot of strategic work to change the importance of aerospace innovation and manufacturing in Michigan. By influencing the highest levels of state government, Michigan aerospace suppliers and manufacturers benefit from AIAM's proactiveness and advocacy."

An ideal fit for the AIAM Board, Brassard is considered a national thought leader in the electronics industry, overseeing operations of one of the nation's most established printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturers. He is a champion of World Class Manufacturing and shares AIAM's mission to work with Michigan aerospace leaders to strengthen and support the industry's continued growth through talent attraction and new investment.

Founded in 1968 in beautiful rural Upper Michigan with the mission of creating jobs, Calumet has contributed to the economic development of the area for over 50 years. Brassard helped reorganize Calumet in 2013 as the company’s VP/COO, positioning Calumet as an influencer in the industry and protecting the future of domestic electronics.

The aerospace industry relies heavily on reliable PCBs with high-quality technologies and seeks domestic companies to deter serious national security threats. PCBs are the DNA of electronics, and with only 110 PCB manufacturers remaining nationwide, Brassard says one of the solutions to protect U.S. national security interests in electronics manufacturing is in Calumet, Michigan.

Calumet is America’s only HUBZone-certified PCB supplier. The company is 100% American-owned and operated with zero offshoring or outsourcing, incentivizing both aerospace and the DoD to work with safe, secure, and sustainable companies like Calumet.

"We are honored to have Todd join the AIAM Board of Directors," said George Kiefer, AIAM Board Chairman. "Todd brings a unique perspective and his industry experience will further strengthen our Board as we continue to advance the growth, depth, and opportunity of Michigan's aerospace industry."

The Michigan aerospace industry includes 931 suppliers – generating $6.4 billion in sales annually. Brassard's experience will help all aerospace companies in Michigan influence policy and local decision-making, expand industry awareness, and advance their impact on government relations.
