TAIPEI – Mitsubishi Electric reportedly plans to increase its printed circuit board laser drill output by 50% in the second half of the year, but laser drill supply is likely to remain tight through the end of 2011, the company said.

BANNOCKBURN, IL – An estimated one-third of all printed circuit boards for US defense or military systems are produced outside North America, according to recent IPC data.

LONDONelement14 will provide printed circuit boards through an unusual partnership with PCB manufacturer Pentalogix.

Pentalogix, a quickturn board fabricator, will offer its PCBs through element14’s component distribution channel. The relationship is unusual in that most catalog distributors offer only components to be assembled to a circuit board, not the PCB itself.

element14 is part of the Premier Farnell distribution organization, which includes Newark.

WESTPORT, CT -- Compass Diversified Holdings narrowed its net loss for the quarter ended March 31 to $6.6 million from $15.3 million a year ago.

FULLERTON, CA -- PCB fabricator Cosmotronic will relocate its flex circuit production into excess manufacturing space here in a facility owned by its parent company, JR Controls.

SANTA ANA, CA – Printed circuit board maker TTM Technologies reported first-quarter earnings more than doubled year-over-year on a sales increase of 16%.

TTM posted a profit of $27.1 million. Revenue more than doubled to $342.8 million, within earlier guidance.

The firm expects second-quarter revenue between $350 million and $370 million.
