TAIPEI -- The Taiwanese printed circuit board market is expected to grow about 3% year-over-year in 2014, new research from a local nonprofit agency indicates.

Overall sales by Taiwanese PCB manufacturers could total NT$537.8 billion ($17.9 billion) this year, said the Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center, part of the Industrial Technology Research Institute. That's up from 1% annually over the past three years, the agency said.

Taiwanese makers combined for sales of NT$522.2 billion in 2013, up 1.32 % from 2012. Revenues include the facilities operated by Taiwanese PCB manufacturers in China.

First quarter production was up 8.5% year-over-year and down 14.1% sequentially. Growth picked up in April, and could be as much as 5.5% sequentially and 9.8% year-over-year, IEKC said. Growth is expected to continue in the September quarter before dipping in the December period.
