WILSONVILLE, OR – Mentor Graphics Corp. reported first-quarter sales rose 8% from last year to $193.8 million.
For the quarter ended April 30, net loss was $12.96 million, compared to $25.5 million last year. Non-GAAP net income was $8.25 million, compared to an $8.54 million net loss last year.
Bookings increased 25% year-over-year.
Quarter results were aided by the company’s investments in markets adjacent to traditional EDA. Transportation companies and the thermal analysis market comprised 10% and 5% of total bookings respectively.
“Systems companies contributed to a 55% increase in bookings for our Integrated Systems Design division, while semiconductor companies drove a 35% increase in IC Design to Silicon division bookings,” says Walden Rhines, CEO and chairman.
Mentor has no significant contract renewals scheduled for the second quarter, and sales are expected to be in the $165 million range.
