BEIJING – China’s mobile phone sales increased 11.6% sequentially to 13.04 million units in March, according to a report published by CCID Consulting and reported by DigiTimes.

Expansion of the CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) segment favored Chinese manufacturers, ZTE and Huawei Technologies. CDMA handsets accounted for 20.5% of the Chinese market in March said CCID.

According to the CCID report, Nokia ranks number one in China, commanding 31.7% market share. The closest competitor, Samsung Electronics, came in second at 17.9%. ZTE jumped from 1.7% in February to 4.4% in March, on strong CDMA sales. Huawei was up from 1.4% in February to 3.2% in March, sliding into seventh.
