SAN JOSE – North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers reported 90-day moving average worldwide orders slipped about 1% in March.

Orders of $1.38 billion were down 0.9% year-over-year and up 9.4% sequentially, says SEMI.

The three-month average worldwide billings in March was $1.20 billion, down 5.3% year-over-year and 0.5% sequentially.

The book-to-bill ratio for the month was 1.15. A book-to-bill of 1.15 means $115 worth of orders was received for every $100 of product billed for the month. A ratio over 1.0 is seen as an indicator of future expansion.

3D NAND and advanced logic are the key drivers for current investments, SEMI said in a press release.
