BANGKOK -- PCB maker Advanced Printed Circuit Board will acquire CKL Electronics of Thailand in a deal worth $6.76 million, according to published reports.
The deal may be the precursor to other investments by Taiwanese firms in Thailand as they seek out lower-cost sources of production.
CKL reportedly has a monthly PCB capacity of 500,000 sq. ft., half for automotive production, and the rest for power supply equipment and consumer electronics, DigiTimes reported, citing local sources.
APCB is also building a plant in Thailand with a projected PCB capacity of one million sq. ft. a month, DigiTimes said.
