PENANG -- Ibiden, the world's largest PWB fabricator, will open a massive campus here within a year, the company said.

Ibiden Electronics Malaysia will launch production in the second quarter 2011 at the Penang Science Park, and will focus on boards for consumer electronics devices like smartphones and PCs.

The printed circuit board company plans to hire 900 workers for the first phase of operations.

Company officials said initial production will support 50 million units per year, and with plans calling for that output to eventually double.
