BEAVERTON, OR -- Merix Corp. is capitalizing on new growth opportunities in the defense and aerospace sector to help expand its NA operations. In the past 12 months, it has doubled its market share in this sector, according to president and CEO Michael D. Burger. 
 
In the first fiscal quarter, which ended Feb 2009, Merix reported $60.7 million in sales. The defense and aerospace segment represented 10% of total sales and 20% of NA sales. During this period the company added 16 new defense and aerospace customers.  

Working with multiple defense and aerospace customers, Merix supplies PCBs for flight deck avionics, cabin electronics, information management, GPS, radio and tactical military communications, tactical smart munitions, radar systems, satellite communications and simulation systems.
 
The company recently completed MIL-PRF-31032 qualification for its NA facilities in CA and OR. This important military certification establishes strict standards and recognizes Merix’s advanced quality management and production systems.
