TAIPEI, TAIWAN – HannStar Board Corp. plans to expand production capacity for HDI boards. The company will invest NT$1 billion (US$29.4 million) to increase monthly output from 100,000 square meters to 250,000 square meters.
The expansion is planned to go online in September.
With the additional capacity, HannStar could surpass Gold Circuit Electronics Inc. (GCE) to become the largest HDI-board producer in Taiwan. HannStar ranked 21st on Dr. Hayao Nakahara’s 2007 NTI 100 list, while GCE ranked 19th.
The company reported that 71% of its first-quarter revenue was from notebook-PC boards. It expects second-quarter revenue to jump 20%.
