VIENNA – AT&S expects the global semiconductor shortage to persist well into 2023, says the firm’s CEO Andreas Gerstenmayer.

The IC substrate market, used in notebooks and PCs, will remain tighter until 2025, he added.

The company will try to pass on cost increases to customers, including those stemming from the construction of a new plant in Malaysia, though AT&S is still within budget.

Some €1.7 billion (US$1.87 billion) is expected to be invested into the new plant over a five-year period.
