TAOYUAN, TAIWAN – Compeq Manufacturing reported second quarter revenue of NT$12.4 billion (US$ 444.1 million), a decrease of 7.9% year-over-year. Net profit after tax was NT$600 million.

July revenue was NT$5.35 billion, up 5.5% year-over-year and 41.7% sequentially.

The company expects revenue to rebound in the second half of 2021, according to reports. US customers have begun production on handsets, notebooks, tablets, and wearable devices, and China is launching handsets. Compeq expects capacity utilization at about 80-90%.

The firm expects a recovery in consumer electronics spending in the second half of this year, and revenue is expected to growth each month. However, chip shortages and the pandemic will continue to affect sales.

There is increasing demand for HDI boards, and FPCs will be used in batteries of some US-based cellphones and wireless headsets in the third quarter.
