COVINA, CA -- IPC Hall of Famer and the first leader of its technical oversight committee Bernie Kessler passed away Dec. 2. He was 96.

Kessler helped usher in the use of epoxy-glass laminate for printed circuit boards. Prior to that, manufacturers glued copper to paper/phenolic substrates.

Later, Kessler was elected the first chairman of the IPC Technical Activities Executive Committee (TAEC), the body responsible for approving all IPC standards and research work.

In 1991, he became the seventh person inducted into the IPC Hall of Fame.
