STEINHAGEN, GERMANY -- Plasmatreat this month will open a new 15,000 sq. ft. technology and research center at the company’s headquarters here.
The center will focus on development of plasma solutions for a variety of applications. Staff will work on processes related to plasma coatings and its novel atmospheric pressure plasma method for custom surface treatment of electronics production.
The new building, which opens Oct. 30, accommodates seminar and conference rooms for about 200 participants, and will house machine acceptance testing and customer training.
"We will use the new premises for training and further education in plasma technology," said Christian Buske, managing director, Plasmatreat GmbH. He added that the company will focus on its Open-air atmospheric pressure plasma process.
"Open-air plasma technology offers a multitude of applications for electronics production. It ranges from the surface cleaning of leadframes to micro-cleaning of contact surfaces of bond pads prior to wire bonding. Even in printed circuit board production oxidation layers can be removed from copper surfaces using plasma. Openair-Plasma is also used in the actual component production, for example, for cleaning printed circuit boards prior to conformal coating, or to ensure a strong bond between various materials through plasma activation before casting for final device construction. These are just some of the areas of application in electronics production."
