TAINAN CITY, TAIWAN -- Hitachi Chemical will invest 7.5 billion yen ($70 million) to construct a new laminate materials factory here, the company announced.
Hitachi will manufacture prepreg and copper-clad laminates for printed circuit boards at the site. The new plant is expected to have a production capacity of 120,000 sq. meters of copper-clad laminates per month when it opens in April 2020.
Hitachi Chemical said the plant would meet demand for advanced functional laminate materials for semiconductor packaging substrates used fifth generation wireless systems (5G), advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and artificial intelligence (AI).
