Brian Haken, the longtime head of the Printed Circuit Industry Federation, has passed away.

Haken came to the association world from industry, having worked in sales for E.K. Cole TV, Multitone Electronics, and South East Printed Circuits.

He helped found the PCIF, an association representing UK-based printed circuit manufacturers, suppliers and assemblers, and was director until its merger with FEI in January 2001. During his tenure Haken worked tirelessly to shore up ties to other regional and international PCB industry trade groups, including IPC. He even sought the top spot at IPC in late 1999 upon the departure of then president Thom Dammrich.

He is survived by his children, Andrew and Kerrie.
