SAN JOSE – Electronic design automation revenue increased 19.4% year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2010 to $1.5 billion, says The EDA Consortium.

Sequential EDA fourth-quarter revenue went up 15.4%, while the four-quarters moving average increased 11.3%.

Tracked companies employed 26,767 professionals in the quarter, up 3% year-over-year and up 1.1% sequentially.

Printed circuit board and multichip module revenue rose 26% year-over-year to $165.6 million, with the four-quarters moving average up 6.1%.

Semiconductor intellectual property revenue totaled $381 million in the fourth-quarter, a 39.7% increase compared to the 2009 fourth quarter. The four-quarters moving average increased 33.9%.

Computer-aided engineering generated revenue of $576.5 million, up 19.5% year-over-year. The four-quarters moving average for CAE increased 10.9%.

IC physical design and verification revenue increased to $301.8 million, up 2.8% compared to the prior-year period. The four-quarters moving average increased 1%.

Services revenue was $82.8 million, up 0.1% year-over-year. The four-quarters moving average decreased 8.7%.

The Americas, EDA’s largest region, purchased $643.8 million of EDA products and services in the period, up 14.8% year-over-year. The four-quarters moving average for the Americas increased 7.5%.

Revenue in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa was up 7.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2009. The EMEA four-quarters moving average increased 6%.

Japan’s revenue increased 17.3% year-over-year to $277.2 million, with the four-quarters moving average up 0.6%.

Asia/Pacific revenue was $313.1 million, up 48.9% compared to the same period in 2009. The four-quarters moving average increased 39.6 %.
