GLASGOW -- The University of Glasgow today opened a electronics design center, part of a large scale effort to improve British electronics research.

Funding for the facility -- some 5 million pounds -- came from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, Agilent,  National Semiconductor, Fujitsu and other government sources.

The site, which already houses semiconductor research facilities, will design products for drug development, communications systems and homeland security.
