FRAMINGHAM, MA – Worldwide PC shipments totaled 75.6 million units in the second quarter, down 11.4% compared to 2012 but slightly better than expected, according to the IDC, in line with previous forecasts. Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan)(APeJ) were a few points below expectations with the difference made up in the US.

SHANGHAI -- Overall PC shipments will rise 7% year-over-year to 493.1 million units in 2013, on strong demand for tablets. Tablets will make up 37% of the market this year, Canalys says, up from 25% in 2012.
