LOS ALTOS, CA – After a rare two-year drop in global communications equipment production, hardware OEMs are headed for a strong rebound this year.
Communications gear slid 0.5% and 9.8%, respectively in 2008 and 2009. But 11.4% gain in revenues this year will be followed 7.8 and 7.3% rises in 2011 and 2012, says research firm Henderson Ventures.
China will jump 23% and North America will be up 2.4%, offsetting drops in Western Europe (down 7%) and Japan (down 8.8%).
Meanwhile, cellphone shipments are predicted to rise 14.1% this year, followed by 8.3% and 9.5% in 2011 and 2012, respectively, Henderson says.
