BUCKS, UK – An upcoming SMART Group webinar will discuss pending changes and user obligations under major environmental regulations.

“Environmental Regulation Update – 2013 Very Busy Year of Change!” will reveal upcoming changes, focusing on identifying new obligations under the recast RoHS Directive, CE marking for RoHS, and conflict minerals reporting requirements under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in the US.

Effective Jan. 2, the recast EU RoHS Directive is required to come into force in all member states. While no new substances were added to the six already restricted, significant changes have occurred, specifically the requirement that as of January 2013 "CE" markings and Declarations of Conformity will be mandatory evidence of product RoHS compliance.

In the US, rules relating to supply chain traceability of certain key raw materials for electronics were published on Aug. 22. Reporting requirements for these rules also commence in January. By May 31, companies must have systems in place to submit their first year of compliance data.

The webinar, presented by Nigel Birt, will cover how to respond to requests for information and comply with legal obligations.
