USHIKU CITY, JAPAN – Nippon Mektron said the Japan earthquake and tsunami brought direct damage to its Okubara and Kashima plants. The printed circuit board fabricator says, however, that its production supply capability has been recovered close to pre-disaster levels.
Full production began at the Okubara plant this past weekend.
Water supply has restarted as of today, and the supply essential utilities have been restored.
Nippon Mektron expects to restore supply capability close to pre-disaster levels by April 4 by including production transfer to overseas subsidiaries.
The firm says it has remaining problems with the purchase of raw materials, and it anticipates an unstable power supply in summer. The company plans to discuss transferring further production to overseas subsidiaries as a result.
Nippon Mektron is the world’s largest flex circuit board fabricator.
