TOKYO – The Ibiden Corp. has reported that it will spend about $193.5 million to build a PCB factory in Malaysia, on anticipated demand for cellular phone PCBs.

The company has previously built PCB manufacturing facilities in Gifu Prefecture and Beijing.

Production is already being increased at the China facility, but the company reports that it will continue to build new factories ahead of a projected expansion of cell phone usage in Brazil, Russia, China and India.

"We want to make [the new facility in Malaysia] our number two plant after Beijing," according to Ibiden president Hiroki Takenaka.
