JIANGSU, CHINA – Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to shut down its HDI PCB manufacturing facility here as a result of poor profits, according to reports.

The site will cease production and sales, and the company will sell its assets there.

The news comes after Samsung decided to stop smartphone manufacturing operations in China as well.

Samsung-EM is the second major fabricator in recent weeks to announce cessation of HDI production. LG Innotek also said it would stop producing HDI boards in the coming year.
