TAIPEI -- Mitac Holdings today announced a definitive agreement to take an undisclosed stake in Infopower Technologies, an India-based fabricator and assembler. 

While not outlining the size of the investment, Mitac indicated it will become one of Infopower's largest shareholders.

Infopower is a subsidiary of Sahasra, which has four manufacturing plants in India and one in Rwanda.

Infopower's manufacturing base is located in Noida, India and Mitac is looking to leverage the factory's production capabilities to strengthen the presence in the embedded product, industrial PC and car electronics markets.

Mitac, through its subsidiaries, Mitac International and Mitac Computing Technology,provides GPS navigation devices, automotive solution, cloud services and cloud computing products. It reported first-half consolidated revenue of NT$ 24.6 billion ($811 million), up 19% year-over-year.
