PEACHTREE CITY, GA – The Printed Circuit Engineering Association (PCEA) today announced publication of the sixth edition of PCB Basics: An Introduction to the PCB Industry.
The book is available for free download to all PCEA members.
This new edition includes a chapter on high-density interconnect (HDI) and ultra high-density interconnect (UHDI). There is also a chapter on artificial intelligence and its applications – and potential applications – in PCB design, fabrication, assembly, test, inspection and procurement.
First published over 40 years ago, PCB Basics is a primer for anyone just getting involved with the industry: recent graduates, technicians, operators, sales and marketing professionals, procurement teams, and anyone else whose work involves PCBs.
“While the fundamental processes of printed circuit board fabrication have remained stable for years, the smaller sizes due to HDI and UHDI and the resultant precision needed have certainly changed the level of automation, not to mention the terminology,” said Mike Buetow, president, PCEA. “We are pleased to introduce another generation to this handy – and free – document.”
