PITTSBURGH – ANSYS reported third quarter revenue of $245.9 million, up 3% year-over-year.

Net income was $69.6 million, up 5% compared to the third quarter last year.

Year-to-date, revenue was $717.8 million, an increase of 4% year-over-year. Net income was $195.7 million, up 6% compared to the same period in 2015.

“Overall, we delivered earnings results that exceeded our expectation, with strong gross and operating margins,” said CEO Jim Cashman.  “Revenue growth, which was at the lower end of our revenue range, was impacted by an increase in leasing and lower year-over-year perpetual revenue due largely to a challenging comparison to the third quarter 2015. Germany, Japan, China and Taiwan led the performance, while we saw slower growth in North America and parts of Europe.”

The company expects fourth quarter revenue ending Dec. 31 between $263 and $272 million. 2016 revenue is expected to be $981 million to $990 million.
