TAOYUAN CITY, TAIWAN – The output of PCBs in Japan in June was down 23.7% year-over-year to 803,000 sq. m., according to the Japan Electronics Packaging Circuits Association.

Rigid PCB output in June shrank 18.2% to 653,000 sq. m. Revenue increased 9.6% to 27.7 billion yen, however.

Flexible PCB production plummeted 47% to 96,000 sq. m. Sales of flex circuits fell 38.9% to 2 billion yen.

Module substrate production fell 26% to 55,000 sq. m., with sales declining 1.5% to 10.2 billion yen.

For first half of 2020, overall Japanese PCB production is down 12.8% from last year to 5.5 million sq. m., whiles sales are up 7.2% to 235.5 billion yen. Rigid board production is down 7.3% to 4.4 million sq. m., and sales are up 12.1% to 165.9 billion yen. Flex circuit production is off 32.4% to 777,000 sq. m., and revenues are down 26.7% to 13.3 billion yen.
