San Diego - Qualcomm has acquired the San Diego-based software company called SoftMax, which specializes in noise reduction technology for mobile phones.

As reported by Electronics Weekly, the company intends to integrate Softmax’s multi-microphone noise suppression and echo cancellation software into their mobile handsets, Bluetooth headsets, VoIP phones and notebook PCs.

According to Dr. Sanjay K. Jha, President: "With the acquisition of SoftMax, our solutions will deliver advanced voice capabilities for handsets, Bluetooth headsets and other consumer devices."
