SEOUL -- Samsung Electro-Mechanics will shutter its flexible printed circuit board manufacturing operations in Vietnam amid consistent financial losses.

SEM was losing a reported 50 billion won (US$42 million) per year.

Apple, the unit's largest customer, purchased a reported 300 billion won (US$253 million) of boards from SEM, while other customers including Samsung Electronics combined for 100 billion won (US$84 million) per year.

It is being reported that BH and Youngpoong Electronics, two existing Apple suppliers, will likely assume larger shares of Apple's business. BH reportedly accounts for more than 50% of the iPhone 13 boards, while SEM contributed 30% and Youngpoong more than 10%.
