BANNOCKBURN, IL -- The 90-day shipments at North American electronics manufacturing services companies in June rose 3% from a year ago, the Global Electronics Association said today.

June shipments were up 2.4% sequentially, the trade group added.

Year-to-date (YTD) shipments are down 0.3% year-over-year.

Bookings fell 8.9% year-over-year and decreased 17.4% from the previous month. YTD bookings increased 0.2% compared to last year.

The book-to-bill ratio for the month was 1.28, down 130 basis points from May. The book-to-bill ratios are calculated by dividing the value of orders booked over the past three months by the value of sales billed during the same period from companies in the survey sample. A ratio greater than 1.0 suggests a market that will grow over time.

“June was a steady, solid month for North American EMS providers, signaling continued forward momentum,” said Shawn DuBravac, Ph.D., chief economist, GEA. “While bookings declined nearly 9% year-over-year, shipments rose almost three percent, highlighting the sector’s strength in meeting current demand and maintaining a healthy production environment.”
