MILPITAS, CA — North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers posted 90-day average orders of $1.99 billion in December, according to the SEMI trade group.

Bookings were up 28.3% from the revised November level and 47.8% higher than the December 2015 level of $1.34 billion.

The book-to-bill ratio for the period was 1.06, meaning $106 worth of orders were received for every $100 of product billed for the month. A ratio above 1.0 is considered an indicator of near-term future growth.

The 90-day average worldwide billings in December $1.87 billion, up 15.7% from November and 38.2% from December 2015.
