LEOBEN-HINTERBERG, AUSTRIA – AT&S reported first-quarter sales of EUR 142.5 million, up 13.1% year-over-year. Consolidated net income was EUR 6.6 million, compared to EUR 510,000 for the same period last year.
“Despite the challenging market environment, both Mobile Devices and our Automotive and Industrial segments reported significant year-on-year improvements in revenue and capacity utilization at our plants,” said CEO Andreas Gerstenmayer.
Increased demand for HDI printed circuit boards is reflected in strong capacity utilization at the firm’s Shanghai plant, a development that led to year-over-year revenue gains for Mobile Devices of about 7%, or some EUR 5 million, Gerstenmayer said.
Revenue was up year-over-year in the first quarter across all customer segments. The trend toward increased use of printed circuit boards in automotive technology continues and is the driving growth factor in this segment, says AT&S. Overall, revenue was up by about 19% or EUR 10 million on the same period of 2012/13.
AT&S Austria Technologie is collaborating with EPCOS, a TDK Group Company, to develop technologies for embedding active and passive electronic components.
