TUCSON, AZ – Tokyo-based Asahi Glass Co. and nMode Solutions of Tucson, AZ, have invested $2.1 million to cofound a subsidiary business, Triton Micro Technologies.

The new firm will develop via-fill technology for interposers, enabling semiconductor packaging solutions using ultra-thin glass.

The company will combine nMode’s interposer technology for electrically connecting semiconductor devices with AGC’s materials technology and micro-hole drilling techniques to produce 2.5D and 3D through-glass-via interposers needed for semiconductor devices.

Triton will be headquartered in Tucson, with a manufacturing facility planned in California.
