CLEVELAND -- OM Group said third-quarter net sales fell 5% from last year to $395 million on a broad-based slowdown.

The company's Specialty Chemicals unit, which supplies materials for printed circuit board manufacturing, saw lower sales volumes for the period ended Sept. 30, the firm said. Sales at the unit fell 14.1% to 103.6 million. The operating profit fell 64% to $9.1 million.

The company generated $96 million in cash flow from operations in the quarter, versus $22 million in the comparable prior year.
