PFORZHEIM, GERMANY – The Würth Elektronik Group will close its FLATcomp Systems plant here by the end of the month, say published reports.

Refinement of printed circuit boards by polymer print operations will be relocated to other facilities.

The firm says the business was no longer profitable in Pforzheim. 2011 revenues were down 18.3 % year-over-year, and were continuing a slump in 2012, say reports.

The firm says the production building was oversized, and the board considered the shutdown inevitable.

More than half the staff of 29 in Pforzheim has been offered alternative positions within the company.

Printing lines will be relocated to Schopfheim/Black Forest and Oehringen/Hohenlohe.
