YAVNE, ISRAEL -- Orbotech reported first-quarter net income fell 36% sequentially and 86% year-over-year to $1.6 million.

Revenues for the quarter ended March 31 were $100.2 million, down from 24.8% sequentially 25% from last year.

Orbotech, which makes AOI and LDI systems, said equipment sales to the PCB industry were $48.5 million in the quarter, down from $52.7 million in the fourth quarter and $57.1 million a year ago.

Still, the company is maintaining optimism for a rebound as the year progresses. "After a somewhat slow start to the year, in recent weeks we are seeing significantly improved sales of our PCB equipment," President and chief executive Rani Cohen said.

Orbotech maintained its previous guidance for first half revenues of approximately $200 million and full year revenues of approximately $500 million.
