BOUDRY, SWITZERLAND – Printed circuit board fabricator Cicor says it is considering consolidating its production sites in Switzerland.
The move would affect the company's Unterägeri facility, which would be merged with Boudry. The closure of the facility would cost 42 jobs. Ten staff would be offered jobs in Boudry.
The firm attributes the decision to consolidate PCB operations to enduring difficulties in the semiconductor market situation and a slump in the demand for highly complex printed circuit boards in niche segments.
Management says it would concentrate production in Europe on sites in Boudry and Moudon, both in Switzerland. The costs of restructuring would negatively impact Cicor’s overall results in 2011, the company said.
