OSLO – Thin Film Electronics plans to attach a sensor component to a smart, thin-film circuit to create a low-power and inexpensive sensor by the end of next year.
The company is working in partnership with Xerox on the current technology, which allows thin, disposable tracking tags to be developed for pennies, the company says.
By next year, it hopes to add transistors to the circuits, permitting inventory tracking or data sharing from a sensor to a network. The company says the plan is to attach a sensor component to the smart, thin-film circuit to create the sensors.
The company also aims to have a chip that can broadcast information by 2013.
