CHUNGLI CITY, TAIWAN – PCB maker Gold Circuit Electronics said it would invest $24 million to expand HDI production at its factory here, say published reports.

The firm is set to expand capacity from 50,000 sq. ft. to 200,000 sq. ft. in third or fourth quarter of this year, as a result of strong demand for HDI boards used in tablet PCs, the firm says.

At the end of last year, GCE expanded HDI production capacity in Taiwan from 200,000 sq. ft. to 300,000 sq. ft.

In May, the firm reached consolidated revenues of $52.9 million, the highest in 30 months. Forty percent of revenues come from notebook PC PCBs, 28% from server PCBs, 12% from PCBs used in consumer electronics, and 10% from LCD PCBs and PCBs used in networking and communication devices, the company says.

GCE expects second-quarter consolidated revenues to rise sequentially 10% to 15%, and full-year revenues to increase 20% compared to 2010.
