TAIPEI – Mitsubishi Electric reportedly plans to increase its printed circuit board laser drill output by 50% in the second half of the year, but laser drill supply is likely to remain tight through the end of 2011, the company said.

The company, which saw its supply chain slowed by the Japan earthquake, wants to return lead times to normal levels of four months by the third quarter, reported DigiTimes.

Some of Mitsubishi's suppliers are located in northeastern Japan, which was decimated by the March 11 earthquake and resulting tsunami. Mitsubishi has in some cases found alternate suppliers, DigiTimes said.
